This blog comes into being on 26 June 2009. It is Friday today and I have been on the wagon a full four days. Having kept up the daily habit for all of thirty five years now (no less) and being driven by considerations of domestic harmony, poor health, advancing age, compounded by the unsoliticited company of freebooters, unrestrained excess, ill-effects of wanton insobriety, and financial indiscipline, I am trying to forgo the evening tipple.
All and sundry just cannot bring themselves to believe it - the autorickshaw drivers who would automatically take me to the nearest booze shop on leaving office, the regular set of guys I recently stopped hanging out with, the corner stall purveyor of tea whose al fresco premises had been the scene of action many an evening, the colony watchmen who now receive only a dispirited acknowledgment of their greeting, the neighbours who have unwittingly had to open the door to let a drunk in, right up to the folks at home who must probably suspect that there is more to it than meets the eye.
But today is a Friday, Thank God. The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. Do watch out for my next post guys.
